This guide follows along with the attendance video and walks you through how attendance works inside Class Manager, how to mark rolls, and how attendance connects to your day-to-day studio operations.
All attendance is managed from the Attendance section inside Class Manager. When you open this area, you’ll see a live view of your scheduled classes for the day. Each class automatically generates a roll based on the students enrolled in it, including any trial students.
You don’t need to create rolls manually. As soon as a student is enrolled in a class, they will appear on the roll for every scheduled session of that class.
You can also move between different dates if you need to mark a previous class, check attendance history, or prepare for upcoming classes.
To mark attendance, simply open the class from the Attendance area and you’ll see the full list of students for that class. Next to each name will be options such as present, absent, late or trial depending on how your studio tracks attendance.
Most studios find it fastest to mark everyone present first and then adjust any students who were absent or late. As you click each status, the system saves automatically, so there’s no need to manually save anything.
If a student arrives late, you can mark them as late. If they didn’t attend at all, mark them absent. Keeping this accurate gives you a reliable attendance history and helps with things like makeup classes, engagement tracking and parent communication if needed.
Trial students will appear on the roll just like normal students but will usually be identified as being on trial. It’s important to mark whether trial students attended or not, as this helps you track conversions and follow up with families.
Once a trial student converts into a full enrolment, they remain on the roll as a normal active student. There’s no need to re-add them.
If your teachers are marking their own rolls, they can access attendance through their teacher login or class view. Many studios choose to have teachers mark attendance live during class using a phone or tablet. This removes the need for paper rolls and keeps everything updated in real time.
If a class is missed or not marked, you can always return later and update the attendance for that session.
Attendance connects to several other areas of Class Manager. It helps you keep track of trial students, monitor class numbers and maintain a clear history of student participation. Over time, this gives you useful insight into attendance patterns, frequent absences and overall class engagement.
Accurate attendance also helps ensure your enrolments and records stay organised and up to date across the system.
The easiest way to keep everything accurate is to mark attendance immediately after each class finishes. When rolls are updated in real time, your system always reflects what’s actually happening in the studio and you avoid needing to go back and fix things later.
