Having a phone number for your business allows you to communicate with your customers and market to them where you're at. However, to protect consumers there are certain rules and regulations in place that you have to follow to acquire a phone number. For users outside the US and Canada, these requirements might need you to prove your address and submit certain documentation to purchase a phone number. If you've tried to get a phone number and saw a message asking you to pick an address, this article is here to help.
When attempting to purchase a phone number, you may encounter an orange icon which is your cue that address verification and regulatory bundles are required.
Head over to your “Settings”, then go to the “Regulatory Bundle/Address” tab inside the “Phone Numbers” section.
Click the +Create button, this will open a pop-up window for you to select the bundle you want to add.
Select Address bundle then click Next, this will prompt you to input the necessary address information.
Fill out the form with your Business information following the prompts shown.
Friendly Name: This will be the business name.
Customer Name: This will be the business representative's name.
Address Line: Street address of your business or yourself minus your Country, State/Province/Region, City, and Postal Code.
After filling it out click Submit and you'll see this message.
Select “Regulatory Bundle” then click next.
Choose the country (e.g., Australia) and select a mobile number for dual functionality (voice and SMS) then click next.
Follow the steps to upload the required documents for verification, this will vary from country to country but generally includes your business registration and a utility bill.
Ensure that the regulatory bundles and addresses have been approved by the regulatory authority. Once approved, they should appear in the dropdown menu for selection.
The required documents vary depending on whether the phone number is for individual or business use. Typically, personal identification or business ID verification documents are required.
